How to Measure for Dog Harnesses
Submit measurements BEFORE ordering harness. We will respond to all measurement inquiries within two working days and are more than happy to help you determine the best fitting harness for your dog based on the measurements we are given. Print this page as a reference.
This section describes how to measure your dog for a harness, whether you are looking for an Escape Artist walking harness, X-Back pulling harness, or Puppy harness. We can't determine what size your dog requires with only the breed type and weight because dogs come in all shapes and sizes - even within breeds!
You must take the time to fill out the measurement form below to avoid returns/exchanges and to provide a more comfortable fit for your dog the first time. Please submit the measurement form BEFORE you place your order online (if you submit measurements at the time of order we can't guarantee that we will catch the two emails in time to give you the right fit needed for your dog).
Thank you!
Measuring tips:
- Use a cloth measuring tape or a string. (If you use a string, mark the measurement on the string and compare it to a ruler for accuracy).
- You want the tape or string snug, but not tight.
- Measure the dog, not the fur. If the dog has thick fur, dig through their hair to find the proper reference points.
- Take the measurements three times. The results will vary slightly, but there should not be large discrepancies, or you can assume you’re not measuring correctly. Submit an average of the three measurements.
- The dog must be standing squarely on all fours, with their back straight.
- Have someone help you hold the dog while you measure.
